Navigating the CD


To navigate the CD, click on the desired topic in the left pane to view its sub-topics. The sub-topics will open below the topic. To open a sub-topic, click its link. The sub-topic item will open in the right pane. To close or hide an open topic or sub-topic, click on the topic name again.

Customizing Your Browser Window


This CD functions in an Internet browser (preferably Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, as noted in the System Requirements). To make it less distracting to use the CD, you may want to customize the Internet browser window to remove the toolbars, links, and address bars. Follow the steps below to customize the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser window.

  1. Insert the CD.

  2. Open My Computer.

  3. Double-click the CD drive to access its contents.

  4. Double-click the CD_Start file to launch the CD.

  5. The CD will open in the Internet browser window.

  6. On the browser's menu bar, click View.

  7. Point to Toolbars, and in the new menu that appears, click any of the checked items to remove them from your browser window.

Displaying the Standard Toolbar on PDF Files


The PDF files on this CD have been optimized for viewing on this CD. This means that the Standard Toolbar has been disabled and will not appear when you open these files. If you would like the Standard Toolbar to appear in Adobe Acrobat Reader, follow the steps below to display it.

  1. Insert the CD.

  2. Open My Computer.

  3. Double-click the CD drive to access its contents.

  4. Double-click the CD_Start file to launch the CD.

  5. The CD will open in the Internet browser window. Click the Start the CD button.

  6. Use the links on the left side of the CD to navigate to any page of the Getting Started manual (for example, click Module 1: Developing 21st Century Skills and then click Exercise 1 - Identifying Essential Skills).

  7. When the PDF document opens in the right pane, click your cursor on the document. To show the Standard Toolbar, press F8. To re-hide the Standard Toolbar, press F8 again.
