Minimum system HW requirements WEB Server: This application runs on MegaRAID Console Server and response to Internet browser request. The browser connects directly to WebServer that has the Java Bean built within it self. By default installation sets the Web Server port number to 3570. The port number can be changed in file svr.properties, located in installation folder. After changing port number Webserver needs to be restarted. RAID Server: RaidServ is a bridge between SCSI RAID driver and MegaRAID monitoring console. RaidServ is required in all RAID configurations SCSI. The RAID Server software runs in any server that has one or more MegaRAID controllers. It is RAID Server responsibility to register in appropriate RegServer. User needs to add IP address of the machine where RegServ is located to the Regserv.dat file. Registration Server: The Registration Server contains a database of all computers on the network that have registered as users of the RAID Server. Before network computer running RAID Server can use MegaRAID Configuration Console, it needs be registered in the Registration Server. In case if you monitor your local computer only RegServ is not required. . Requirement: Feature Requirement RAID Web Server TCP stack needs to be up and running for Web Server to function. There is a requirement for installing Web Server and that is JRE. Web Server is installed in C:\Program Files\ RAID Web Console. Registration Server TCP Stack needs to be up and running for Registration Server to function. There is no requirement for installing Registration Server. Installer is installed in [SystemFolder]. RAID Server RAID server and its sub features can be installed only if “megaraid” driver is found to be loaded. Installation Steps: Start installation by launching setup.exe or .msi file. 1) Installer detect if there is previous version installed or not and it is then display dialog box with same information. User have a choice to continue or cancel the installation. If user choose to continue then installer will uninstall previous version of package and install the one that user trying to install. Same with silent install as well but dialog box will NOT display in this case. 2) Installer detect if there is newer version of RWC is installed or not and it is then display dialog box with same information. User have a choice to continue or cancel the installation. If user choose to continue then installer will uninstall newer version of package and install older version. same with Silent install but dialog box will NOT display in this case. 3) Installer detect if there is MegaRAID Configuration Console Package is installed or not and if it is then display dialog box with same information. User MUST uninstall MegaRAID Configuration Console Package before installing RAID Web Console Package. Same with Silent install but dialog box will NOT display in this case. 4) Installer is Registering WebServer as a service. So if Webserver has started as a service and user log-off or shutdown the system, user can manage that computer remotely. 5) Continue with installation screens after selection of features installation will see if Java run time environment is installed in the system if Web Server is selected to install. If java is not present or less then ver.1.3.x then Installer will display dialog box for user to continue installing RWC after silently install of JRE by Installer. 6) Continue with installation and finish the installation. Installer will launch Web Server automatically at the end of the installation. 7) Installer will launch setpass.exe automatically for user to set the password. 8) Installer will create shortcut from Start menu to start and stop Web Server. Unistallation Steps: User can uninstall RWC either by Add-Remove program or by clicking on setup.exe. If user tries to uninstall by setup.exe then installer will display “Modify”, “Repair” or “Remove” option. User can choose accordingly. Installer will remove any files/registry key during installation during uninstallation. Configuring Web Server and RAID Servers: There are two ways to run Intel® RAID Web Console. First is locally, where all the components are in a single machine. The other is where there are multiple systems running RAID Servers in the network. Following description applies to both. Running locally must be treated as a special case of the former. Installation will install component based upon user’s choice whether they want to install “standalone” or “networking”. Installation starts RAID Server, Registration Server and RAID Server automatically depending up on user’s choice. • Web Server is UNAWARE of registration server. It knows only about RAID Servers. • RAID Servers are UNAWARE of Web Server. They know only about Registration Server. • Registration Server is UNAWARE of both – Web Server and RAID Servers. Follow these steps to configure Web Server and RAID Servers. INSTALLATION DOES THESE STEPS AUTOMATICALLY DURING INSTALLATION DEPENDING UP ON USER’S CHOICE. • There must be only one Registration Server running in the network. It can co-exist with either Web Server or any RAID Server. Of course, in the LOCAL (standalone) setup, all the components run on a same machine. • Registration Server must be running before the RAID Servers are started. Registration Server can be started by starting RAID Registration Server service. Installation does this automatically before completing installation. • First task is to make a RAID Server become aware of the Registration Server. To do this: ? Open C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\regserv.dat ? Type either the IP or the name of the server running the Registration Server. ? If you are using the name instead of IP, make sure the name is resolvable. (Try pinging the server using name). ? If the name is not resolved, you can add the name to “hosts” file. (C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) ? If everything is running locally, you may type “localhost” or 127.0.0.1 in the first line of C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\regserv.dat • The above steps must be done in each machine where RAID Server is running. Once that is done, all RAID Servers may be started. RaidServer can be started by starting RAID SERVER service. • Now Web Server must be made to point at any of the RAID Servers. To do this: ? Open the file C:\Program Files\RAID Web Console\svr.properties ? This file contains many NAME=VALUE pairs. ? Locate the name “RAID_SERVER_NAME” ? Type either the name or IP of a RAID Server. ? If you are using the name, make sure it is resolvable. (Try pinging the machine using the name). ? If the name is not resolved, you can add the name to “hosts” file. (C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) ? If everything is running locally, you may type RAID_SERVER_NAME=localhost • Now start the Web Server. How to set & modify Full Access Password: • Password must be set on every machine that runs RAID Server (Raidserv). • To set the password for the first time, execute C:\Program Files\RAID Web Console\SetPass at the shell prompt. • SetPass utility prompts user to enter a new password and confirm it. • Length of the password must not be more than 40 characters. • If a password has already been set, then SetPass allows a user to modify it. • Password is maintained in the file C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\raidpass.val • Password needs to be set every time you uninstall and install Intel® RAID Web Console *Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
