From support.intel.com IDA can automatically download system firmware update package from Intel supporting web site. Server should have valid Internect conncetion. User can follow the indication on IDA GUI to enter local server IP setting and Internect proxy configuration; Select "Next" button to start firmware download and update process . From my network IDA can get system firmware update package from a Windows* share folder on LAN. User need to download firmware update package from support.intel.com web site and copy to a Windows* share folder first; Follow the indication on IDA GUI to enter local server IP setting / Windows* file server name / Windows* account name and its password; Find the firmware update package in the Windows* share folder from a IDA pop-up window; Select "Next" button to start firmware update process . From USB Disk on key or Hard Disk IDA can get system firmware update package from USB storage also. User need to download firmware update package from support.intel.com web site and copy it to a USB key and insert into server USB port; Select option "From USB disk on key or hard disk" and select "Browse" button; Select firmware update package ZIP file in a IDA pop-up window; Select "Next" to start firmware updating Note: system firmware update package is .ZIP file format, it doesn't need to unzip, directly copy the .ZIP to Windows* share folder or USB disk Intel(R) One Boot Flash Update Utility The Intel(R)One-Boot Flash Update Utility (Intel OFU) is used to update the BIOS and firmware on the Intel server boards while the operating system is running. The utility may be launched from a command prompt in either the Windows* or Linux* Operating Systems. User can get Intel OFU from Server system IDA CD or from support.intel.com web site Please refer Intel OFU user guide about the details of intatllation and usage of OFU User can use OFU to update system firmware with below steps - Install OFU on Windows* or Linux* system - Download Intel server system firmware update package from support.intel.com - Unzip package and copy all files to a folder in Windows* or Linux* system - Run below command in Windows* connamd line window or Linux* terminal windows :\ flashupdt -u \flashupdt.cfg to start firmware update process EFI Shell User can update system firmware from Intel server EFI shell with below steps - Download Intel server system firmware update package from support.intel.com - Unzip package and copy all files to a folder in a USB disk key - Insert USB disk key to server USB port - Reboot server to EFI shell - Run command " map -r " at EFI shell to mount USB disk key - Run command " fs0:" to change folder to USB disk key, USB key may also mount to fs1:. The number of "fs" is dependent on the result of command "map -r" - Change folder to the folder that store the firmware package - Run command " startup.nsh " to start firmware update process Please refer " EFI_deployment.pdf" in this firmware package for the details of EFI commands Windows* Preboot Execution Environment (WinPE) This Intel server system firmware package can be inserted to Windows* PE customized image and create a bootable Windows* PE CD.
