Beep Code 1-1-1-1
Unrecognized processor. Reseat or replace

Beep Code 1-3-3-1
Memory failure. Try BIOS recovery, or replace memory

Connecting SCSI Peripherals
Connect an internal SCSI cable to a SCSI termination card placed in an unused I/O slot of the chassis. From the termination card, use an external SCSI cable to connect external SCSI devices.
Use an additional SCSI host adapter PCI add-in card. If this option is chosen, Intel does not recommend installing a host adapter in PCI slot one, as the onboard Symbios SCSI controller shares the interrupt with PCI slot one.

EMP Configuration and Operating
EMP can be configured for modem mode and either "always active" or "pre-boot only" in BIOS set-up. In "always active" mode, COM2 is not available to the OS. EMP will answer all calls to a modem connected to COM2. In "pre-boot only" mode, EMP will only be active while powered down, and during POST; making COM2 and the modem available to the OS.

Next type "pkgadd -d /tmp/eee_uw23.pkg"

Last Known issues
Wake On LAN requires 0.8A of +5V standby current. Disable the Wake On LAN jumper if your power supply is insufficient.
USB is not enabled until the operating system is loaded
Zero-channel RAID adapter must be installed in PCI Slot three
ISA cards may not work until you set BIOS | Advanced Menu | Reset Configuration Data to "Yes"
PS/2 port may stop working after a BIOS update. Clear the CMOS by jumper to work around this issue.

NVRAM/CMOS clear
  1. Power the system down. Unplug system from AC
  2. Locate the CMOS CLR jumper at J2J1, then move the jumper to pins 2-3 position.
  3. Boot up, and verify the message indicating NVRAM is clear.
  4. Power down the system, unplug AC, and move jumper back to its initial position, 1-2.

Compatibility
Tested Chassis
The only Intel-designed chassis for the T440BX is Intel® Columbus III Chassis.
icon Test Report Summary [PDF]

Tested Hard Drives
The Intel® T440BX (NL440BX) server board supports UltraDMA, but does not support LVDS. LVDS drives will only work with the integrated Symbios SCSI controller in Ultra Mode, limited to 40 MB/sec.
Avoid PCI slot for add-in RAID cards as the Symbios SCSI controller shares its PCI interrupt

Tested Hardware and Operating System
The Intel® T440BX Server Board supports the AMI MegaRAID Express* 762, and includes AGP support and slot connector
Install Microsoft* Windows NT 4.0 from floppy, not CD ROM. Select 'S' during install to manually load SCSI, IDE CD ROM, and NIC drivers
Disable "Plug-n-Play OS" in the BIOS for Microsoft* Windows NT 4.0

Tested Memory
The Intel® T440BX (NL440BX) Server Board has three dual in-line memory module (DIMM) sockets that support up to 384 MB of unbuffered 100 MHz or 66 MHz ECC or non-ECC SDRAM, or 768 MB of registered 100 MHz SDRAM.

Tested Processors
Select your processor speed in the BIOS under Main Menu | CPU Speed Setting
All Intel® T440BX server boards support Intel® Pentium® II processors with a 100 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) running internally at 350, 400 or 450 MHz with 512 KB of integrated L2 cache. All T440BX boards also can be used with the 266, 300 and 333 MHz Pentium II processors, which have a 66 MHz system bus.

The Intel® Pentium® III processor is supported only on the following versions of the T440BX server board:
TA* code Revision BIOS required BMC firmware required
700981 -004 or higher BIOS P06 or later BMC 54 or later
AA** number Revision BIOS required BMC firmware required
700980 -415 or higher BIOS P06 or later BMC 54 or later
PBA** number Revision BIOS required BMC firmware required
695741 -415 or higher BIOS P06 or later BMC 54 or later
The T440BX server board does not have the necessary Voltage Regulation Module (VRM) changes needed to support the following processors, although they will physically fit. The below processors are *not* supported on any version of the T440BX board
