It is assumed that the factory will flash the provided hex image directly to the SEEPROM. Installation Procedure under EFI (Requires HSC firmware already running): 1) Unzip the release package, and copy the contents onto your storage media (such as a bootable USB memory device) 2) Insert USB disk on key to server / workstation USB port 3) Boot Server to EFI shell 4) Run command "map -r" in EFI shell to mount USB disk on key 5) Run command "fs0:" to change folder to USB disk on key, USB key may also mount to fs1:. The number of "fs#" is dependent on the result of command "map -r" 6) Change folder to the folder storing the firmware packageBoot to DOS, and change directories to the release directory. 7) Run "EFIUPFW_PRI.NSH" to install primary HSC update, or run "EFIUPFW_SEC.NSH" to install secondary HSC update. Primary HSC - Backplane connected to baseboard HSBP_A header via IPMB cable. Secondary HSC - Backplane connected to baseboard HSBP_B header via IPMB cable. 8) The HSC will receive a boot code update. This could take up to 13 minutes to upload and verify. 9) After verification, the firmware requires 60 seconds to finish updating. The front-panel power and reset buttons will be placed in secure mode during this time. Any attempts to access these buttons will result in security violation entries in the system event log. Please do not reset or remove power from the system during this time as any interruption could leave the HSC inoperable. 10) Please update your BMC's SDR package to the latest version. 11) Please reboot your system. ============================================================================= KNOWN ISSUES/WORKAROUNDS ============================================================================= Steps only applicable to expander-based backplanes. Steps only applicable to Hardware or Software RAID configurations. 1)Gracefully shut-down the system. a)Do not use hibernate or suspend to RAM. 2)Remove the SAS host bus adapter. 3)Disconnect the SAS cable(s). a)Removing disks is optional. 4)Power-on the system. 5)Boot to upgrade media (for example, bootable CD-ROM). 6)Run update batch file. 7)After upgrade completes, power-down the system. 8)Re-install SAS host bus adapter. 9)Reconnect SAS cable(s). a)Insert any disks that may have been removed. 10)Power-on the system. 11)If necessary, import any foreign configurations. or Another alternative solution is to use Bootable media which has HSC FW files to flash HSC FW. ============================================================================= FEATURES ADDED IN THIS RELEASE ============================================================================= v2.15: - None v2.14: - None v2.12: - None v2.09: - Support for S5520HC, S5500HCV, S5520SC, and S5500BC v2.08: - None v2.07 - Improved HSC FW update by implementing 128 bytes data transfer. v2.06 - None v2.05 - None v2.02 - None ============================================================================= ISSUES FIXED ============================================================================= v2.15: - None v2.14: - Set temperature offset for SES-2 - SATA drives sometimes not detected - SATAII 1.5G limitation v2.12: - Expander enclosure may go offline causing a RAID failure v2.09: - None v2.08: - SATA drives not detected on hot-plug with expander backplanes v2.07: - Unexpected completion code returned for issuing "Get Enclosure Slot Map" command with invalid beginning slot position. - The assertion/de-assertion event message enabled bits of "Get Sensor Event Enable" for HSBP Sensor number 0x01 are different than FRUSDR package. v2.06: - Enable "SATA Back Channel HOLDA", that fixes SATA_R_ERROR issue during write command. - Disable "auto-activation of old FIFO Read Release", that fixes SATA_HOLD issue. - Enable "FIFO Low HOLD Release Enable", that fixes SATA_HOLD issue. - Adjusted analog settings to fix SATA_R error on some adapters.
