DOS System Update Package Install Instructions

The contents of this update package is used to update the System Firmware for 
the following Intel Server Products:

Intel(R) Server Board S5500HV 
Intel(R) Server System SR1670HV
 
System Update Instructions

This Update package includes the following system software updates:

System BIOS - 0217
BMC Firmware - 1.18 (Two firmwares for Board and system)


Important NOTES: 

- All the updates provided in this package are Dos based.
To run these updates, please extract all files to a DOS bootable USB Flash Drive. See instructions below

- The System BIOS revision provided in this Software Update Package does not
include processor microCode to support any pre-production Intel(R) Xeon(R) 
processors 

- It is highly recommended that you read the Release Notes (.TXT Files) for each 
of the software updates provided to understand what the known issues are, what 
issues were addressed from previous updates, and what new features (if any) were added.

*********  Standard Update Procedure **************

***********************************************************************************

- Copy all the files to a Bootable USB disk-on-key device

- Follow the instructions below to perform each software update. Update the system 
software in the sequence specified:


*** Update System BIOS ***


IMPORTANT BIOS UPDATE NOTEs: 

      DO NOT turn off the system or interrupt the BIOS update process.
      Doing so corrupts the BIOS and prevents your system from booting up.
      If your BIOS becomes corrupted for any reason, you must read and complete the BIOS Recovery
      Process described later in this section.


BIOS Update Instructions:

   1. Verify that the HV0217.ROM, afudos.exe and Run.bat files are present in the directory
   2. At the Dos prompt type Run.bat and press the Enter key
   3. When the BIOS Update has completed successfully, you must reboot the system for the changes to take effect.
   4. During POST, access the <F2> BIOS Setup Utility when prompted.
   5. At the Main Menu Screen, press the <F9> key to reset BIOS defaults.
   6. Reset any preferred BIOS option settings
   7. Save the BIOS Settings and reboot server.

The BIOS update is complete. Either reboot the server or go to the BMC Firmware Update 
described below.  


*** Update BMC Firmware ***

IMPORTANT BMC UPDATE NOTEs: 

      There are two different BMC firmware for S5500HV Board only and SR1670HV System.

** For S5500HV Board BMC firmware update: 

   Verify that the following files are present in the directory:5500S118.ima;KCSFlash.exe; BMC_MAC.EXE; RunB.BAT
   At the DOS command prompt type RunB and hit enter

   The update should take several minutes to complete

** For SR1670HV System BMC firmware update: 

   Verify that the following files are present in the directory:1670S118.ima;KCSFlash.exe; BMC_MAC.EXE; RunS.BAT
   At the DOS command prompt type RunS and hit enter

The update should take several minutes to complete

When the BMC Firmware update is complete, reboot the server

Notes:Using KCSFLASH.EXE with your own command line parameters is not supported
   and doing so is at your own risk!


*** Verifying updates ***

1) During POST, hit the F2 Key when prompted to access the BIOS Setup Utility
2) Hit the F9 key to load BIOS Defaults
3) At the MAIN menu verify the BIOS revision is 0217 in system Information submenu
4) Move cursor to the SERVER menu
5) Move cursor down to the IPMI CONFIGURATION Option and hit Enter
6) Verify the BMC Firmware version is 1.18
7) Hit the F10 Key to save changes and Exit


The System Software Update is Complete.
