Please use the provided batch file to update the firmware. Executing the update script must be done from an EFI environment. Do not reset or remove power from the system during this time, as it may cause the BMC FW to be corrupted. The ESB2 NIC SEEPROM must contain a valid image in order to activate the BMC, and an active BMC is required for the installation procedure described below. Early fab 1 baseboards were built and distributed with blank ESB2 NIC SEEPROMs and BMC flash devices. If the BMC update procedure fails, it may be due to blank or invalid images in the ESB2 NIC SEEPROM or BMC flash devices. Please see the FCBMC06 package for instructions on how to update the SEEPROM and put an initial image into the BMC flash. ============================================================================= BMC FW INSTALLATION PROCEDURE ============================================================================= Please follow the steps below to update the BMC FW using the provided update script and firmware update utility. 1) Unzip the release package, and copy the contents onto a storage media, such as a USB memory device. 2) Boot the system to EFI and change directories to the release directory. 3) Run the upfw.nsh update script. ============================================================================= KNOWN ISSUES/WORKAROUNDS ============================================================================= - This firmware image has not completed validation, and is for validation only. ============================================================================= CHANGES SINCE PREVIOUS VERSION ============================================================================= BMC23: - Fixed -703 baseboard BMC failed to boot BMC FW22: - Fixed random uncorrectable ECC errors during the POST BMC FW21: - BMC checksum mismatches - BaseBoard-Temp sensor randomly drops out - Add more averaging and debouncing offsets BMC FW20: - C3 FLASH MIGRATION TO M28W FLASH - Low Voltage Dimm support BMC FW19: -50X memory board will replace AT24C02 FRU EEPROM with PCA9500 device which has integrated 2Kbit EEPROM for FRU and GPIO's BMC FW18: - Fixed reliability problem of ESB2 BMC on Windows* server 2003 - Fixed ESB2 BMC boot failure issue - Corrected the issue that NMI button can not trigger Windows* server 2003 to generate memory dump file BMC FW17: - Corrected erroneous SEL Logs of power units redundancy during AC Power Cycling - Corrected false events of power supply temperature [END OF RELEASE NOTES]
