  1. Boot to Resource CD and launch Advanced RAID Configuration Utility
  2. Select Physical Disks | View Actions, and change any offline drives to "Normal"
  3. Select RAID Volumes | View Actions and change the volume to "Normal"
  4. Select RAID Volumes | View Actions and change the status to "Initialize parity"
  5. Reboot the server after the 100% completion"


Error: Safety disk configuration error for fault tolerant operation

During POST you may see: "Safety disk configuration error for fault tolerant operation. Reconfigure the fault bus processors"

The SAF-TE card tracks what devices are in each slot of the hot-swap backplane. If the cached information doesn't match, delete and re-add the SAF-TE information manually.

  1. Enter the BIOS StorCon utility by pressing [Ctrl-G] during POST
  2. Advanced | Configure Physical Devices | ESG-SHV SCA HSBP | Enclosure Slot Configuration
  3. Highlight each slot in succession and press [Enter] to remove the cached SAF-TE information.
  4. Repeat the process to rescan the hard disk information.
  5. Exit StorCon and reboot.

RAID Volume Size Less Than Expected
The controller automatically reserves one drive as a Hot Spare, unless you set "Hot Spare: NO" in the controller BIOS.

Using Storage Console

When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and no remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Local Storage Console), only Service Pack 6a or later and Internet Explorer* 4.01 are required.

When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Remote Storage Console), install Microsoft Internet Information Server*, Service Pack 6a or later, and Internet Explorer 4.01 or later. If using FAT file system instead of NTFS, uncheck the anonymous box in IIS, and update IIS to V4.0 or later.
