Installation and use
"IOCTL -Device SCSI Processor Device" is located in the Other Devices section of Device Manager.
Update the driver and install Intel® Storage Console.

Add More Drive Space
Add a new hard drive, and mark it as "pass-through". The operating system can use the space. The hard drive will not be part of the array.

Beep Codes
1-pause-1-1-1 Controller startup successful.
Continuing beep Disk failure or controller failure. Use StorCon or StorCon+ to view the Save Information file for details.
2-pause-2-pause Memory or firmware errors.

BIOS Configuration Utility
Press Ctrl-C during POST to set up the first array.

Changing the PCI Bracket Configuration

Disable Audible Alarm
StorCon | Advanced Setup | Configure Controller | F4 to silence alarm
or
StorCon+ | Physical Configuration | Right click the controller icon | Silence

Error : Component Cannot Be Found
Use StorCon in DOS for major firmware updates.

Error: "Detected damaged primary configuration data"
StorCon | Advanced | Physical Devices | SCSI ID | F8 to Repair

Error: "At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details."
Error: "At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details." or Event ID 7026: "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: i2oexec" or Event ID 17: "Iop initialization failure. Drivers will Not Be Loaded for Some IOPs"
Disable the OSM driver by deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i2oexec key in the registry. If the RAID controller firmware was upgraded to 6.x from a pre-6.x version, install the new driver. It will also be necessary to create a new RAID volume, rewrite the physical configuration data on the drives, and mount the new volume using the Windows Disk Administrator. To rewrite the physical configuration data, go to the advanced setup in Intel Storage Console, go to the Configure Physical Devices menu, press F8, and press Y. Be aware that all data on the RAID volume(s) will be lost as part of the upgrade process.

Error: "Error 1607 DOS Interface Transport Driver not present"
Boot to a floppy to update 4.x firmware, rather than the resource CD.

Error: "No IOPS found"
Install tested memory on the RAID card.

Error: "Splitting Invalid Mirror-Devices of Drive X into Several Drives"
Two drives of a mirror have been updated individually, but neither drive has failed. Remove the drive with the "outdated" data from the array and rebuild the mirror on a clean drive.

Error: "Cannot Load MAPILogon() from MAPI32.DLL" or "Cannot init MAPI !"
Use the Email Notification option in the RAID Configuration Service. This uses SMTP instead of MAPI to send the email notification.
Other RAIDMail functions, such as local and remote alerting, will continue to function.

Error: ID# LUN# SAF-TE Disk Config Error
The SAF-TE enclosure is not automatically detecting the drive. To manually include the drive, enter the Storcon utility
F4 for Advanced | Configure Physical Devices | ESG-SHV SCA HSBP | Enclosure Slot Configuration | Select the slot where the drive is installed | Press Enter to include the drive in the SAF-TE configuration.

Error: Safety disk configuration error for fault tolerant operation
During POST you may see: "Safety disk configuration error for fault tolerant operation. Reconfigure the fault bus processors" The SAF-TE card tracks what devices are in each slot of the hot-swap backplane. If the cached information doesn't match, delete and re-add the SAF-TE information manually.
  1. Enter the BIOS StorCon utility by pressing during POST.
  2. Advanced | Configure Physical Devices | ESG-SHV SCA HSBP | Enclosure Slot Configuration.
  3. Highlight each slot in succession and press to remove the cached SAF-TE information.
  4. Repeat the process to rescan the hard disk information.
  5. Exit StorCon and reboot.

Expand Array Function
The Expand Array Function does not expand the size of the existing RAID volume. It only frees up space on the existing drives by taking the total volume data and spreading it across the additional drive(s). For example, if a RAID 5 array is created across three 15GB hard drives and the maximum size is used for the volume, then the end result would be a 30GB RAID volume. If another 15GB hard drive is added to the Array, the 30GB RAID volume is then spread across all 4 drives and the extra 15GB is available as free space across all 4 drives, which can be used to create another RAID volume.

Upgrading Microsoft Windows NT* 4.0 to Microsoft Windows* 2000
  1. Download the Migration Utility (filename: 419_w2k_mu.exe). This package contains a script which adjusts the registry to permit migration of an Intel® Integrated Raid system from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows* 2000.
  2. Save the file in an empty directory.
  3. Double-click on the file to extract the contents to the empty directory.
  4. Double-click on the file SETUP.EXE. Continue with the RAID Migration Utility.
  5. Download the latest Windows 2000 miniport driver and extract it to a floppy disk.
  6. Run the Windows* 2000 installation while the Windows NT* 4.0 operating system is running.
  7. Upon reboot, please press [F6] to specify a new driver to load.
  8. Insert the miniport disk that you created in step 5.
  9. Follow the normal Windows* 2000 installation steps to complete the installation.

Using Storage Console
When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and no remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Local Storage Console), only Service Pack 6a or later and Internet Explorer* 4.01 are required.
When installing Windows NT* 4.0 and remote administration capabilities are required (i.e. using Remote Storage Console), install Microsoft Internet Information Server*, Service Pack 6a or later, and Internet Explorer 4.01 or later. If using FAT file system instead of NTFS, uncheck the anonymous box in IIS, and update IIS to V4.0 or later
