EFI System Update Package Install Instructions

The contents of this update package is used to update the System Firmware for 
the following Intel Server Products:

Intel(R) Server Board S2600JF
 
System Update Instructions  

Production Released - June 1, 2012

This Update package includes the following system software updates:

System BIOS - R01.03.0002 
Management Engine - R02.01.05.107  
BMC Firmware - R1.10r3656 
FRUSDR package - S2600JF_FRUSDR_1.08 

Important NOTES: 

- All the updates provided in this package are EFI based.
To run these updates, you must boot the system to the embedded EFI shell and then 
access the USB device containing the system software udpates. See instructions
below

- The System BIOS revision provided in this Software Update Package only include 
processor microCode to support any pre-production Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-2600 processors 

- It is highly recommended that you read the Release Notes (.TXT Files) for each 
of the software updates provided to understand what the known issues are, what 
issues were addressed from previous updates, and what new features (if any) were added.

                       SYSTEM HARDWARE and SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
*************************************************************************************
The contents of this update package is used to update the System Firmware for 
the following Intel Server Products only:

  - Intel(R) Server Board S2600JF FAB3 or later
  - Intel(R) Server System H2000JF Family


  - BIOS R1.00, or later Version
  - BMC 1.00 or later Version
  - FRUSDR 1.00 or later version

                 Standard Update Procedure from the embedded EFI Shell
*************************************************************************************

- Unzip package and copy all files to a folder in USB disk on key
- Insert USB disk on key to server / workstation USB port
- Boot Server to EFI shell
- Run command "map -r" in EFI shell to mount USB disk on key
- Run command "fs0:" to change folder to USB disk on key, USB key may also mount to
  fs1:. The number of "fs" is dependent on the result of command "map -r"
- Change folder to the folder storing the firmware package
- Run command "startup.nsh" to start updating all the firwmares and BIOS


Warning: 
!!Do NOT reboot or shut down power from your system during following software update!!

If you want to update single components like BMC/BIOS separately, please go to the 
root folder and execute the specified scripts separately, and follow below 
update process to ensure trouble free update from BIOS R043.1, BMC 1.00:
  1) BMC firmware update to R1.10.3656
  2) BIOS update to R01.03.0002
  3) ME update to R02.01.05.107
  4) FRUSDR update to 1.08

*** Update BMC Firmware ***


1) Verify that the following files are present in the directory:
   fwUpdateBMC.NSH; FWPIAUPD.EFI; BMC_i_0110r3656.bin; IPMI.EFI
2) At the EFI command prompt type upd_bmc.nsh and hit enter

The update should take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete


*** Update System BIOS ***

BIOS Update Instructions:

1)  Verify that the R01.03.0002.cap, IFLASH32.EFI and updBIOS.NSH files are present in the 
directory
2)  At the shell prompt type updBIOS.nsh and press the Enter key
3)  The update should complete within 3 minutes
4)  Shut down the system but leave it connected to AC power
5)  Boot the system and enter BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 Key during POST
6)  Verify the BIOS string shows the BIOS revision as SE5C600.86B.01.03.0002.xxxxx
8)  Press F9 to load defaults
9)  Press F10 to save and reset the system.

The BIOS update is complete. Either reboot the server or go to the BMC Firmware Update 
described below.  


*** Update ME Firmware ***


1) Verify that the following files are present in the directory:
   updBMC.NSH; IFLASH32.EFI; ME_02.01.05.107.cap; IPMI.EFI
2) At the EFI command prompt type updME.nsh and hit enter

The update should take approximately 1 minutes to complete


*** Updating the FRU and SDR data on your server ***

1) At the EFI Shell prompt type updS2600JF.nsh and hit the ENTER key to start the utility
2) Answer questions and enter desired information when prompted.
3) When the FRUSDR utility has completed its update, power cycle the server and reboot.


*** Verifying updates ***

1) During POST, hit the F2 Key when prompted to access the BIOS Setup Utility
2) Hit the F9 key to load BIOS Defaults
3) At the MAIN menu verify the BIOS revision is SE5C600.86B.01.03.0002.xxxxxxx
3) Move cursor to the SERVER MANAGEMENT Menu
4) Move cursor down to the SYSTEM INFORMATION Option and hit Enter
5) Verify the BMC Firmware revision is R1.10.3656
6) Verify the SDR Revision is 1.08
7) Hit the F10 Key to save changes and Exit


The System Software Update is Complete.
