EFI System Update Package Install Instructions The contents of this update package is used to update the System Firmware for the following Intel Server Products: Intel(R) Server Board S2600JF System Update Instructions Production Released - Nov 8, 2012 ********************************************************************************** This Update package includes the following system software updates: System BIOS - R01.06.0002 Management Engine - R02.01.05.107 BMC Firmware - R1.16r4010 FRUSDR package - S2600JF_FRUSDR_1.09 Important NOTES: - All the updates provided in this package are EFI based. To run these updates, you must boot the system to the embedded EFI shell and then access the USB device containing the system software udpates. See instructions below - The System BIOS revision provided in this Software Update Package only include processor microCode to support any pre-production Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-2600 processors - It is highly recommended that you read the Release Notes (.TXT Files) for each of the software updates provided to understand what the known issues are, what issues were addressed from previous updates, and what new features (if any) were added. ************************************************************************************* SYSTEM HARDWARE and SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS ************************************************************************************* The contents of this update package is used to update the System Firmware for the following Intel Server Products only: - Intel(R) Server Board S2600JF - Intel(R) Server System H2000JF Family to System BIOS - R01.06.0002 Management Engine - R02.01.05.107 BMC Firmware - R1.16r4010 FRUSDR package - S2600JF_FRUSDR_1.09 . ************************************************************************************* instructions for flashing Firmware on H2000JF with 1600W power supplies ************************************************************************************* 1) Populate system with a single node in Slot #1 and 2x 1600W Power Supplies. Ensure that Node Slots #2, 3, and 4 are empty 2) Boot to Node #1 and run the Update package (S2600JF_EFI_BIOS01060001_ME020105107_BMC0116r4010_FRUSDR109.zip) a. Once the BMC update is complete, the Power Supplies will immediately begin to update their firmware. This requires no user intervention b. While a power supply is updating its firmware, the LED will blink at 2Hz. They will update one at a time c. Once an update is complete the power supply LED will be either solid or blinking at 1Hz d. The entire update process could take up to 5 minutes for both supplies to complete the update 3) Once both Power Supply Firmware updates have completed, nodes can be inserted into slots 2, 3, and 4. DO NOT INSERT ANY ADDITIONAL NODES UNITL THE POWER SUPPLY FIRMWARE UPDATE IS COMPLETE (~5 Minutes) 4) Boot nodes 2, 3, and 4 and run the update package on each (S2600JF_EFI_BIOS01060001_ME020105107_BMC0116r4010_FRUSDR109.zip) 5) the system with 1200W power supplies does not need these special steps. ************************************************************************************* Standard Update Procedure from the embedded EFI Shell ************************************************************************************* - Unzip package and copy all files to a folder in USB disk on key - Insert USB disk on key to server / workstation USB port - Boot Server to EFI shell - Run command "map -r" in EFI shell to mount USB disk on key - Run command "fs0:" to change folder to USB disk on key, USB key may also mount to fs1:. The number of "fs" is dependent on the result of command "map -r" - Change folder to the folder storing the firmware package - Run command "startup.nsh" to start updating all the firwmares and BIOS Warning: !!Do NOT reboot or shut down power from your system during following software update!! ************************************************************************************* If you want to update single components like BMC/BIOS separately, please go to the root folder and execute the specified scripts separately, and follow below update process to ensure trouble free update : 1)System BIOS - R01.06.0002 2)Management Engine - R02.01.05.107 3)BMC Firmware - R1.16r4010 4)FRUSDR package - S2600JF_FRUSDR_1.09 ************************************************************************************* *** Update BMC Firmware *** 1) Verify that the following files are present in the directory: fwUpdateBMC.NSH; FWPIAUPD.EFI; BMC_i_0116r4010.bin; IPMI.EFI 2) At the EFI command prompt type UpdateBMC.nsh The update should take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete *** Update System BIOS *** BIOS Update Instructions: 1) Verify that the R01.06.0002.cap, IFLASH32.EFI files are present in the directory 2) At the shell prompt type UpdateBIOS.nsh 3) The update should complete within 3 minutes 4) Shut down the system but leave it connected to AC power 5) Boot the system and enter BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 Key during POST 6) Verify the BIOS string shows the BIOS revision as SE5C600.86B.01.06.0002.xxxxx 8) Press F9 to load defaults 9) Press F10 to save and reset the system. The BIOS update is complete. Either reboot the server or go to the BMC Firmware Update described below. *** Update ME Firmware *** 1) Verify that the following files are present in the directory: IFLASH32.EFI; ME_02.01.05.107_HFW.cap; IPMI.EFI 2) At the EFI command prompt type UpdateME.nsh The update should take approximately 1 minutes to complete *** Updating the FRU and SDR data on your server *** 1) At the EFI Shell prompt type UpdateFRUSDR.nsh to start the utility 2) Answer questions and enter desired information when prompted. 3) When the FRUSDR utility has completed its update, power cycle the server and reboot. *** Verifying updates *** 1) During POST, hit the F2 Key when prompted to access the BIOS Setup Utility 2) Hit the F9 key to load BIOS Defaults 3) At the MAIN menu verify the BIOS revision is SE5C600.86B.01.06.0002.xxxxxxx 3) Move cursor to the SERVER MANAGEMENT Menu 4) Move cursor down to the SYSTEM INFORMATION Option and hit Enter 5) Verify the BMC Firmware revision is R1.16.4010 6) Verify the SDR Revision is 1.09 7) Hit the F10 Key to save changes and Exit The System Software Update is Complete.
