================================================================================ Intel(R) Deployment Assistant 5.2 Release Notes ================================================================================ Intel Enterprise Platform & Services Division - Marketing Intel Corporation 2111 N.E. 25th Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97124 USA ================================================================================ DATE : May 27, 2013 ================================================================================ ABOUT THIS RELEASE ================================================================================ The Intel(R) Deployment Assistant(IDA) utility is provided to simplify, accelerate, standardize and clarify the process of building, loading, and deploying Intel(R) Server products. It can also be used to update the BIOS, firmware, and SDRs as a maintenance activity. No installation is required for Intel(R) Deployment Assistant. Simply place the Deployment Assistant CD in a bootable CD-ROM drive and power on the server. Intel(R) Deployment Assistant will start automatically. Supported Features - System Update This feature supports server BIOS, updates with System Firmware Update Package. - Server Settings This allows to setup server BIOS and BMC - System Information Asset tag can be set by this feature - Simplified RAID Configuration This allows user to setup all Intel brand or OEMed RAID device with a simple and uniform user interface. - Multi-Server Cloning Supports to clone deployment from one server to multiple servers with PXE image or bootable USB key settings as well as system update packages. - USB Key Boot User can now burn ISO image to USB keyThis feature allows user to boot IDA and perform all IDA operation from USB key instead of a CD. Boot Side Features Details: - Detect and display the server components and system software stack versions. - Automatically locate and download System Firmware Update Package from support.intel.com - Retrieve the update packages from a network shared drive or from a USB key. - Choose which items from the update package to install on the local server. - Configure onboard RAID and add-in Intel(R) RAID Controllers - The IDA multi-server cloning feature is designed for users who need to repeat the same deployment work on more than one server which have the same hardware configuration. This feature deployment can improve server efficiency and save user’s human resource via copying all deployment work on first server to other servers automatically. ================================================================================ SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ================================================================================ Intel(R)Deployment Assistant 5.2 hardware minimum requirements: - 512 MB RAM, (1024 MB preferred) - Mouse and Keyboard - CD-ROM drive or USB key - Monitor resolution of at least 1024x768 - To download drivers or firmware from the Intel support site, the server must be connected to the Internet with only one network port from the server connected. ================================================================================ Supported Platforms ================================================================================ - Intel® Server Board S1200RPL - Intel® Server Board S1200RPS - Intel® Server Board S1200RPO - Intel® Server Board S1200RPM ================================================================================ Supported RAID Controllers ================================================================================ - RS25DB080 - RMS25PB080 - RMS25KB080 - RMS25CB080 - RS2PI008 - RMS25GB008 - RMS25JB080 - Intel® ESRT2 - Intel® RSTe (RAID 0 only) - LSI* 9211-8i For details on Intel RAID cards, please refer Intel Web site: http://www.intel.com/products/server/raid/ Note: Intel(R) RST or RSTe RAID is not supported by IDA ================================================================================ Considerations and Known Issues ================================================================================ - IDA supports BMC user 1(anonymous), user 3,4,5 configuration, IDA cannot setup user 2(root) - IDA can't configure RAID volume on ESRT2 RAID controller if Memory Mapped I/O above 4GB is enabled by default in BIOS. Memory Mapped I/O above 4GB should be disabled in Bios if IDA shows no Physical drive found message while selecting ESRT2 RAID option though physical drives are actually connected. - User might observe a display screen refresh slow happening while applying the BIOS settings. - The IDA can support 24 Hard Disk Drives at most. To suport more quanity HDDs, please use RAID Web Console 2 utility. - It is unavailable to configure RAID 1E/RAID 10 using 3 or more disks on RMS25KB040 RAID card.
