Notes & tips Making installation disks This software can be installed directly from the files extracted from the archive you downloaded. However, these files will not all fit on a single floppy for installation on other systems. You can make a set of installation disks by following the procedure below. To make installation disks You need 2 formatted, high-density disks. 1. From the directory where you downloaded this update, run MAKEDISK.EXE. 2. Follow the instructions on the screen. You'll be prompted to insert disks and label them. 3. Use the new disks to install Netport Manager. Insert disk 1 in a Windows workstation and run SETUP.EXE. Follow the instructions on the screen. 4. Troubleshooting - NetportExpress print server doesn't show up in Netport Manager on a Windows* network. This is usually caused by a network protocol configuration problem on the workstation running Netport Manager. Here are some things to look for: - In a pure Windows network, NetBEUI is required for Netport Manager to discover the Netport print servers. Make sure NetBEUI is loaded and bound to the proper adapter. - On Windows NT*, Remote Access Services (RAS) may be installed -- try uninstalling it temporarily or make sure NetBEUI isn't bound to it. - If you're running Netport Manager on an NT system and you have multiple network adapters, Netport Manager will only discover Netport print servers on the network segment connected to the first adapter with NetBEUI bound to it. You may need to change the order of the adapters in your system (in the Network option under Control Panel). - On Windows 95, make sure NetBEUI is the default protocol. Also, if a 'dial-up adapter' is present in your network configuration, make sure NetBEUI is not bound to it. ______________________________________________________________________________ Intel Corporation assumes no responsibility for errors or omissions in this document.
