The SUP simplifies the BIOS and firmware update process by providing all of the necessary files in one download and one floppy disk. The SUP is the most efficient when used in conjunction with the System Resource CD that shipped with your Intel server. If you do not have a System Resource CD, the SUP package will also create individual floppy disks. ============================================================================= UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS ============================================================================= To launch the SUP: 1) Boot the server to the System Resource CD 2) Choose "Quit to DOS" from the menu and exit to a DOS prompt 3) Place the SUP floppy disk into the A: drive 4) Type the command a:SETUP.BAT to launch the SUP 5) Follow the on-screen directions It's important that the update process be executed in the numerical order displayed on the Main Menu after the SUP is launched. The user interface numbers the steps from 1 - 5 and each update should be applied accordingly. ============================================================================= TROUBLESHOOTING & ERROR MESSAGES ============================================================================= Each update utility includes the ability to display error messages if something goes wrong during the update process. Be sure to watch for errors and DO NOT continue on to the next update utility if the current operation generates an error. Failure to stop and investigate error messages could result in the system being left in an inoperable and/or unbootable state. If any utility generates an error, note the error message and attempt to rerun the same utility again. If the error persists, check the release notes for more information on command line options and dependencies. [END SUP.TXT]
