File name: 2meg.exe This download supports Intel RAID cards using a 2meg flash part. Please refer to Support.Intel.com to verify that the RAID controller you are using has completed testing with this verision of firmware. Do not upgrade your RAID controller until you have verify that compatability testing has completed. Attention! =========== This package will extract to a floppy diskette that contain the file '2meg.exe'. This file is used by the firmware recovery utility (FRU) during the firmware recovery process. The Firmware version contained in the 2meg.exe file is 2.34.05-R043. Contents ========= File Version Size Date Description ----- -------- ----- ----- ------------ 2meg_fw_043.exe 2.34.05-R043 1003KB 1/28/03 Diskette image containing the 2meg.exe file. 2meg README.TXT n/a 2KB 1/31/03 This file Using This Tool ================ The Flash Recovery Utility (FRU) is only intended to be used to recover the controllers firmware in the unlikely that the firmware is corrupted. For normal updates of the firmware, simply download the latest firmware to a floppy diskette and update the firmware using the RAID Storage Console. You must move the recovery jumper on your controller to the recovery position in order to apply this update. This tool is not for use on the Intel(R) Server RAID Controller SRCU32, The SRCU32 does not have a recovery jumper and can not be used with this update, apply firmware to the SRCU32 using StorCon 2.10 or later. To perform a firmware recovery complete the following steps: 1. Download the FRU utility and extract it to a floppy diskette. 2. Download the 2MB firmware image and extract to a floppy diskette, that diskette will then contain the file '2meg.exe'. 3. Remove power (unplug the power cords) from the target system. 4. Remove the RAID controller and move the recovery jumper on the RAID controller from the "normal" position to the "recovery" position, and re-install in the target system. 5. Re-apply power and boot the target system to the FRU disk mentioned in step 1. 6. The system load the FRU which will be loaded into a RAM drive. 7. A menu will be presented that lists the installed raid card and the type of firmware file needed (2mb). 8. Insert the diskette containing the 2meg.exe file mentioned in step 2. 9. Press the number key associated with your RAID controller as displayed on the menu (usually the number 0 unless you have more than one RAID card installed). 10. The Firmware will be programmed into the RAID controller, when complete you will be prompted to exit. 11. Power down the target system and remove power (unplug the power cords). 12. Move the recovery jumper on the RAID controller back to the "normal" position. 13. Reinstall the RAID controller, re-apply power, and boot the system.
