Backup all data prior to the firmware update. 1. Download and extract the irflash utility to a floppy diskette or CD-ROM. 2. Download and extract the firmware file to a floppy diskette or CD-ROM. 2. Boot the target system to Linux. 3. Insert the floppy diskette containing irflash utility created in step 1 into the floppy or CD drive. 4. Run the RPM with the command rpm -ivh irflsh-2.04.00-0.i386.rpm. 5. Follow the screen prompts. Help can be obtained with the command "irflash /?" Multiple controllers installed in the same system can be updated one after the other by following the prompts that are presented. Component Features ================== Component Features a) Supports CLI (Command Line Interface) mode. c) Multiple instances of utility are not allowed d) Multiple adapters can be flashed one after another. e) Image files are searched from the current directory, only for the controllers available in the system. In that case, if multiple valid image files found, users will be asked to choose one image file among the listed valid images. f) “Forced File Flashing?can be done with some adapters with files given with /f option. This means user can provide some image files by her and can force them to flash with matching controllers. g) This utility provides an option to query all valid adapters present in the system and shows their information and then quit. Known Restrictions =================== 1. The utility will run only if logged in as administrator or user having administrative privileges. 2. Image files should be present in the current directory except for –p and –f option. 3. Utility fails to load the image file under heavy I/O condition. Changes ========== In come circumstances, Irflash can flash the controller with wrong file name. Fix: In case of wrong file name the flash will give a message and continue to find files in the directory and flash the controller.
