Important Information about Server Configuration Wizard (SCW) Utility with Support files Intel(R) Server Board SE7520JR2 Version 2.1.6 Copyright (c) 2005, Intel Corporation ALL RIGHTS RESERVED April 07, 2005 This document describes some specifics of the Server Configuration. The SCW is a combination of PEG-based software applications, batch files and helper applications designed to help users with the initial configuration of an Intel-based server. The SCW is run at boot time off of the Server Resource CD in ROM-DOS. The Wizard is designed to help users by leading them through a series of screens that asks for information about the server to be configured. When all the information has been gathered, the Wizard will ask the user for the confirmation to go ahead and take the necessary steps to actually configure the server, such as storing values in non-volatile memory and configuring the BIOS and the BMC. Install The SCW utility comes as part of a bootable Resource CD and is a DOS application running on top of the ROM-DOS 6.22 OS. There is no installation required for the utility. The utility should be run out of the Resource CD. A main batch file controls the execution sequence of the SCW and the helper applications. This batch file is called from the AUTOEXEC.BAT on the Resource CD. Normal Use: Place the Resource CD on the CDROM drive and boot the system. SCW will start off from the CD after the boot process is over and will take the user through a series of screens prompting the user for information which will help to configure the BMC and the BIOS. Note: Upon completion, remove the CD and reboot the server. B. Usage The SCW is able to perform the following actions (not necessarily in the order presented), Set the system time and date in the BIOS. Load Field Replaceable Units (FRUs), Sensor Data Records (SDRs) Set the System Asset Tag. Configure the Channels (LAN and Serial) present on the server. Configure the Users supported by the server. Set Server Management settings, including IP address, Gateway and LAN-Alert settings. Configure the Advanced Features if supported on the server (if IMM Advanced module present). Start the execution of utility applications that can be used to manually configure the server. Create startup or installation diskettes for hardware device drivers and server configuration utility applications. Provide help. The user interface portion of the SCW is a DOS-based application developed using the PEG application library. The PEG application library allows DOS-based applications to appear as if they are Windows based, when in actuality, ROM-DOS is the underlying operating system that was booted from the Resource CD. The user will be taken through a series of screens and asked for information required for configuring the server. Once the GUI exits, the helper applications will run and save the settings to the BIOS and BMC. Note : Options on the screen may be unavailable depending upon the current configuration of the server ( The IMM Professional / Advanced module). C. Additional Documentation: Additional information on the Server Configuration Wizard may be found in the Product Specification. Errata Items NONE
