This release includes an ISO image that can be used to create a bootable CD-ROM to perform updates to the BIOS, firmware, FRUSDR and Intel Management Modules associated operational images. A CD can be created or contents may be viewed/ extracted from the ISO image with any third-party CD-ROM burning utility that supports the ISO image standard. Contents may be extracted to a USB disk- on-key in lieu of creating a bootable CD-ROM. Intel does not provide nor support CD-ROM creation applications or ISO viewing utilities. This release includes the following components, user should read all release notes in detail prior to performing the updates. BIOS Version: P04 FRUSDR Version: 6.6.H (1.70) SR1400LC SATA Backplane: 108 SR1400LC SCSI Backplane: 106 ============================================================================= UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS ============================================================================= To launch the SUP: 1) Create a CD media from the bootable ISO image or extract ISO contents to a bootable USB disk-on-key. 2) Boot the server board with the bootable media. 3) Follow the on-screen directions It's important that the update process be executed in the correct order. The user interface numbers the steps from 1 - 6 and each update should be applied accordingly. To make a USB disk-on-key device bootable: 1) Install the USB DOK on any of the USB ports on the server board 2) Boot the server board and enter BIOS Setup by pressing F2 3) Configure the BIOS to recognize the USB DOK as a hard drive: 3.1 Go to the 'Advanced' tab, 3.2 Select 'USB Configuration' and press the [Enter] key, 3.3 Select 'USB Mass Storage Device Configuration' and press the [Enter] key, 3.4 Select 'Emulation Type' press the [Enter] key and select 'Hard Disk' option 4) Press F10 to Save configuration changes and exit BIOS setup 5) Re-boot the server with an alternate bootable media such as a floppy drive and copy system files to the USB DOK. With MS-DOS*, the USB DOK can be made bootable by typing "a:\format c: /s" at the a:\ prompt. [END OF RELEASE NOTES]
