File: README.INSTALL 3Com (R) Corporation EtherLink 10/100 PCI (3C90x) Network Interface Card Precompiled 3C90x Driver for Linux Modules Installation Instructions This file describes how to install the precompiled 3C90x network interface card (NIC) driver for Linux on the following configurations and distributions: RedHat 5.2 Kernel version 2.0.36 RedHat 6.0 Kernel version 2.2.5-15 Kernel version 2.2.5-22 IMPORTANT: Before you run the installer, read the README file included with the driver. The README file contains important information about the 3C90x driver for Linux. Installing the Driver --------------------- 1. Make sure that you have read the README file. 2. Become root. You need to be root to run the installer. To be root, use the su command (without %, which indicates the shell prompt): % su 3. Run the installer by issuing the following command (note the root shell prompt of #): # ./install3c90x If the file is not executable, change the file permissions to make it executable: # chmod +x install3c90x The installation script places the 3c90x driver module into the appropriate directory under /lib/modules. 4.
