3Com (R) Corporation SCO OpenServer 5 Driver for 3Com 3C980/3C980B Fast EtherLink PCI 100 Base-TX Server NICs Basic Installation Instructions Installing the OpenServer 5 Driver ---------------------------------- The OpenServer 5 driver for the 3C980B-TX server NIC is not a self-healing driver and does not support Load Balancing/RSL server features. Confirm that the following minimum requirements are met before you install and configure the driver: o NIC - At least one 3Com 3C980B-TX server NIC must be installed in a PCI bus master slot. o Memory - 90 KB per installed NIC. 1. Download the OpenServer 5 driver (el980.os5 and create an installation diskette. 2. Log in to OpenServer 5 as root. 3. Insert the installation diskette in the drive. 4. Use the OpenServer 5 custom command to install the driver from the installation diskette. 5. Reboot the server. When the server reboots, it is ready to handle network traffic using the 3C980B-TX server NIC. 6. The above basic installation procedure assumes that the user has a working knowledge of SCO Open Server 5 and is familiar with how to create and install driver software.
